A NMLEA Fishing Story to Share at PDI 

Our Annual “Big Fish" Contest

• Would you like to make a little money at the NMLEA conference?
• Are you willing to give and get a few ideas to take back to your classroom?

Just come with an innovative classroom strategy or outreach project that you are willing to share with others. Forms for your ideas will be handed out at the conference during registration. Fill it out and turn in – no pre-conference work for this presentation! Forms must be submitted by the 11:00 deadline. All entries will be reviewed, and up to five presentations will be selected to participate in this contest.

The five selected finalists will have five minutes to “share/sell” their idea during one of the break out sessions, with follow up questions from the judges. Ideas are to relate to middle level learners, but can include classroom practices, community outreach ideas, or student organization activities. Application questions will include:

• Summarize your innovative classroom strategy or outreach project for the middle level learner.
• Describe WHY the topic is a best practice that others should adopt.
• Explain HOW it can be replicated by others
• Detail WHAT the outcomes of the best practice were for your students, student organization members, the school, and/or the community.
